Honor's Homepage

About

I grew up in the waning years of the old internet, so to speak. I've been on the internet since I was old enough to move a mouse - though that mostly consisted of the 'Fun & Games' section on the Cbeebies website. By the time I was old enough to make my own website, GeoCities had shut down and people were being introduced to the internet through social media websites. But, honestly, social media sucks. Everything put online is public, sure, but I'd rather not have an algorithm try and tell me what I should think and try to manipulate my politics. YUCK!!

Anyway! I'm Honor, I'm in my 20's and am originally from the UK (though I don't live there anymore). I've long thought about making my own personal webpage, but all the HTML and CSS skills I learned from Neopets and Tumblr has long been forgotten, so I was always too put off by the thought of the effort involved. Haha! You always need to start somewhere. There's a few websites from the 'old internet' which have been preserved that I enjoy looking at time to time - Wendy Carlos' personal website, The Daggerfall Compendium, fun personal sites like Kate's Goth Wannabe Page, or all sorts of preserved methods of disseminating TTRPG materials for free before the era of fast download speeds.

I'm primarily interested in videogames, music, and wrestling - which all get their own spots on the site for me to talk about! In a more academic sense, I'm interested in history and hold a first class honours degree in it. My subfield is the environmental history of the US West in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and I'm interested in exploring how the environment has influenced white settler identity in the American Mountain West, particularly in regards to the development of American right-wing ideologies.
